Straight with you
A regas is not always the answer
Air-con gas does not get used up — if yours is empty, it went somewhere. We will regas it and tell you plainly if we think there is a leak, because otherwise you will be back in a year paying again. Finding the leak costs more than the regas, and sometimes it is still the cheaper decision.
Common questions
- How often should it be done?
- Every two to three years is typical. Sooner if it is blowing warm.
- Should I run the air-con in winter?
- Yes, ten minutes a week. It keeps the seals lubricated and it clears the screen faster than heat alone.
- Does it smell after a regas?
- It should not. A musty smell is usually the pollen filter or the evaporator, and that is a different job — we will say so rather than regas and hope.
- Can you do it while it is in for a service?
- Yes, and it saves you a second visit.
